WHOSE INTERESTS ARE THEY SERVING?

Pye dogs have for centuries roamed the streets of Africa, Extra-ordinary men cling to demonalatory disguised as democracy. The suffering that yields profits for the first ladies at Kinshasa, Abuja, Nairobi, Pretoria, Mbabane and other promised lands. The chief o rebels cut of a nursing mother's breast to draw up another logo of non-tolerance to a new generation that could possibly demean this shit and open clean sheets of "united we stand". The illiterate native girl is not a circus elephant, but the rebel soldier boy knows not the meaning of Ubuntu. Everyday he lubricates his joy stick with blood of virgin girls before stealing their breath with high powered machine guns. Mere results of evil teachings, of state house canibals avount from Africa. You warlords, let birds of the forest sing sweet songs of social justice between the Igbos/ Hausa and Fulani, Xhosa and Zulu, Hutus and Tutsis, Ndebele and Shona. Songs that seperates bullets from ballots. Burn all cosmetic constitutions and write a new chapter of Africaness before these cankers gull the infants of change.

IS IT NATIONAL UNITY OR NATIONAL MUTINY?

Amidst an awesome February 11, 2009, a bustard son was born. To revers the gains of an election and thwart a people's hope. He was named Government of National Unity... Those who were not just became, a part of an extravargant lot... Porsche cars and protruding stomachs, big outings and more wine...

But how come, the people ask? Can losers join hands with winners? Our trust has been sold out, so they say... We look up, we look down, we even search inside our closets, for things once hoped for bt never obtained... Is it national unity or national mutiny? We the people have suffered, the gods have sealed the heaven with a dark waterproofed rock, very soon they will seal our tombs as no rain threatens to fall from this dark cloud called national Unity... A new form of oppression has arisen to blind fold the generation of hardworking people, it is called national unity!

THE MDCs' MATURITY IS COMMENDABLE!

Through the GNU, the two MDC formations, the one led by Morgan Tsvangirai & the other one led by Prof. Welshman Ncube, have mastered the rudiments of governance, of administration and of building essential institutions. They have been able to identify reliable leadership under severe and stressful conditions. They have developed the mature skills of give and take negotiations for survival. They have mastered the intricate art of flexibility, of being firm when firmness is required and of compromise and reconcilliation when no strong held principles are at stake. Tought and rough experiences have enabled them to dvp the ability to constantly distinguish and make a choice btwn primary and secondary contradictions and to act on them according to the required objective. In other words they have developed that rare capacity to be able to stand the heat and make it even warmer. The rare wealth of experience have been seen in the mould of the Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai, the Minister of Finance, who became the prime focus of the media recently concerning the contentious issue of civil servants' salaries and the equally controversial issue of the ghost workers. With such a dark clould hovering over his head Biti has been unshaken. Minister Elton Mangoma have had his share of the tribulations, the same can be said about the minister on the Organ on National Healing Reconcilliation and Intergration, Moses Mzila Ndlovu whose stance on the Gukurahundi issue invited trouble for the Legislator. The MDC (N/M) saga emanating from the 'disputed' congress has not dettered Prof. W Ncube, i was going through the Sunday News dated August 28 - 4 Sept 2011 when i leant of the Prof's desire to have the Parly moved to Bulawayo if ever the gvt was committed to devolution of power. I also leant abt the Prof's fight against the de-industrialization of Bulawayo. These are some of the most outstanding Ministers in Zimbabwe's inclusive Gvt, they are a unique feat. Your truly almost forgot the Hon. Speaker of Parly, Mr. Lovemore N. Moyo who almost lost the speakership bt won after fighting a battle of attention and intention against the Prodigal son, Prof. J Moyo. Commander i salute you. What is left is for the MDCs to dvp a solid identity of purpose. We need to see the MDCs who respect each other because each sees in the other similar qualities and traits which they themselves value the most. Such traits as honesty, courage, single-mindedness, organizational talent and administrative skills. The reward is nigh!!! Aluta Continua!

BEFORE THEY CHOSE!

BEFORE THEY CHOOSE!

All in the name of their choices,
Their homes are burnt down
Their ribs are broken and
Their buttocks are buttered
Young boys are dressed in mass boots
and camouflage garments before
They are taught to run, sing, destroy and sloganeer aimlessly
It happens before they choose!

Their brains are thrown into washing machines
where they are spun thoroughly before they are pegged to dry
on blood stained washing lines
Under a watchful eye of recommended supporters
Its their time to choose!!!

They carry their guided choices to the ballot and their fears,
detect and predict victory for men with big bows and piercers
When choices cease to be what they ought to be!!!

Decades of prolonged droughts of democracy have taught them,
to choose with their mouths shut, eyes closed and dreams shuttered
they know not the freedom to choose!!!

to them choosing is an odd ideal
a catapult erected against them
predetermined outcomes of their choices
have trained them to careless about their choices!!!

Let anyone who wants to lead do so,
ours is to be led come what may
The blind , the idiots, the devils and saints,
have pulled our chains of servitude
We know not the meaning of fresh air
our atmosphere reeks with poison gas, tear gas,
acidic policies, draconian laws and unfulfilled promises
All this happens before they choose!!!

CONSTITUTION MAKING AND ELECTIONS

The Constitution Making Process and Elections
“If nothing else is left, one must scream. Silence is the real crime against humanity.” Naddezhda Mandelstam
I have been reluctant to be part of the discourse about the constitution making process which has provided more heat than light. What COPAC has gathered so far is information from an elite driven discourse that left the people by the way-side. It would therefore be difficult for anyone to convince me that in Zimbabwe people can drive any national process or that they have any burning desire to do so. What I can safely say is that the constitution making process in Zimbabwe has been elite led, elite managed or elite manipulated. This is a reality and a tragedy of elitism. I had the privilege of observing the COPAC led outreach meetings and noted with grave displeasure that the process was reduced to a contest between political parties – an arena for bitter struggles because parties viewed it as a process of crafting new rules of the political game, rules which would prescribe who has the power. With the new meta-rules that are likely to govern the new political order and ideally leveling the political field the process became an arena of partisan struggle for supremacy.
The three protagonists in the inclusive government have been declaring their readiness for the elections. One would shudder to imagine why? Why would ZANU PF want an election when it enjoys the lowest popular support in its post independence history, unless the party has suicidal tendencies? And why would MDC (T) desire early elections when the psychological impact of the June 2008 elections violence is still logged in the voters’ souls? It needs more than three years for the fear factor to start dissipating and for the voter to make an effective and meaningful choice. And why would MDC (M) want an election when it is comprehensively in disarray, unless it is also predisposed to committing suicide? And why would the current crop of members of parliament want to end their tenure unless they also need to be exorcised of their suicidal inclination. In fact early elections are no one’s best option. It is of paramount importance to note that there is no inherent virtue in early election before the country has done its homework it terms of crafting a new constitution, allow time for the new constitution to take root, clean the voters rolls that is allegedly inflated with phantom voters and develop the infrastructure for a contest that produces valid and undisputable elections. In short Zimbabwe is not ready for an election.
